X name check

Past handles and display names for an X account.

/twitter name-check reconstructs an account's handle and display-name history from public archives. X itself stores none of this — old handles 404 after a rename.

Needs the Tessera bot in the server. Anyone can run it. Result is private to you.

Run

/twitter name-check

  • handle — @yvngxruddy or x.com/yvngxruddy

Takes up to a minute. First check remembers the live name and id, then walks public archives.

Read

The panel shows:

  • Now — live display name, handle, numeric id, created month
  • Handles — every @ this account used, current or past
  • Display names — frozen name and @handle from archived tweets
  • Reuse — this account's past handles, or this handle on other accounts

Empty is a real result. Quiet or new accounts often have nothing archived. Gaps in the timeline are normal.

Each archived tweet is a timestamped photo of both the handle and the display name. Recent years may only show the live pair.
